Adult Male Residential Treatment
\
The New Moon Lodge serves 10 adult Native American males from the various tribes within the state of New Mexico. Our decision making process with regards to admissions is based on clinical need and the following guidelines:
\
\
1st priority: tribal members of the Eight Northern Pueblos
\
2nd priority: members of other tribes within New Mexico
\
3rd priority: other ethnic groups within New Mexico
\
\
Our treatment philosophy is based on the premise that our clients, many with histories of multiple residential placements, must learn to regain their pride, build their self-confidence, and strengthen their life skills in order to sustain sober and healthy life styles with their families and their communities.
\
\
Residents plan and prepare meals for themselves, participate in the home’s decision-making and housekeeping, and conduct their own meetings for meditation, and sober peer support. Residents actively participate in a structured program of treatment curriculum of 40 hours, consisting of the following activities:
\
\
Individual therapy and substance abuse counseling
\
Family counseling
\
Life skills development
\
Social development (team building group, house governance, community group)
\
Recovery/relapse prevention (drug/alcohol education group, relapse group)
\
Personal development (life skills)
\
Traditional healing and cultural activities (talking circle, sweat lodge, cultural identity group, participation in tribal feasts, traditional healers as requested)
\
Vocational education (vocational group, limited employment opportunities)
\
Community service (various community projects within the pueblos)
\
Therapeutic recreation (horticultural therapy, physical fitness and gym activities)
\
AA and NA meetings, on and off site.
\
\
In addition, clients receive support in their recovery process through referral to community resources including: employment, housing, legal, financial, medical/ dental, education and vocational skills.
\
\
Treatment plans/case reviews are individualized with the client and assist the Clinical Team in determining length of residential treatment.
\
\
Family visitation is on Sunday 12:00 - 5:00 pm.
\
